  • Competition Regulations

  1.  
    1. Hardware and software are provided by GIGABYTE and official sponsors.
    2. No brands other than GIGABYTE and approved official sponsors will be allowed.
    3. GIGABYTE will provide hardware replacement if the original one dies or fails, but competitors can swap each piece of hardware one time only.
    4. Contestants are allowed to bring their own equipment for soldering and modification. Modified hardware is allowed, so bring your modding tools.
    5. Contestants should bring their own LN2 pots for CPU/GPU/Chipset. (LN2 will be prepared by GIGABYTE). Also any kind of cooling apparatus is allowed.
    6. No graphics card modification is allowed, including removing the standard cooling fan.
    7. HDDs are pre-installed and configured with windows XP SP3, drivers, benchmark and utilities.
    8. No outside software, non-GIGABYTE prepared thumb drive, optical device, laptop etc are allowed.
    9. Power source for competition is 220V.
    10. New USB thumb drives will be provided by GIGABYTE to save scores and screen shots.
    11. Contestants may bring their own multi-meter or digital temperature meter.
    12. Gas torches and other open flame heaters are not allowed.
    13. Hairdryers and heatguns are allowed, but will not be provided, so bring your own. Power inside the overclocking arena will be 220V, so 110V hairdryers will not work.
    14. Contestants need to bring their own insulation tool kits. Also paper towels, extra thermo, Dixie CPU, thermal paste, Vaseline, scissors.etc. (GIGABYTE will provide a limited supply).
    15. During the competition time of 4 hours 50mins, participants can run any benchmark; there is no specified run order or individual benchmark time limit.
    16. There will be a 20 minute break after 2 hours where contestants can leave their stations. No scores will be admitted during the 20 minute break.

*There will be dedicated GIGABYTE Technical Staff Referees to verify the score and screen shots.

Rules:

  1. Points will be awarded based on the results of each benchmark.
  2. Points will be totaled and posted at the end of the competition.
  3. Contestants can update their results continuously within the valid set period of time set up by GIGABYTE.
  4. Benchmark scores submitted after time is called will not count.
  5. Contestants should “Printscreen” (PrtSc), save the results to a thumb drive provided by GIGABYTE while keeping both CPUz and the benchmark windows active, then raise their hand to submit a score. GIGABYTE judges will then verify and take down the score.
  6. Pre-saved scores won’t be valid. Judges may ask participants to move/drag the CPUz window to make sure that CPUz and the benchmark are both active.
  7. Contestants are not allowed to change their system clock in any way.
  8. Contestants are not allowed to use CPU Tweaker while running MAXXMEM.
  9. Failure to submit a score for a benchmark will not lead to disqualification.
  10. Contestants are not allowed to accept help from outsiders, including media, overclockers who are not competing, and contestants who have been knocked out or are no longer benching (contestants are not allowed to accept hardware from competitors who have been knocked out). If a contestant accepts help or hardware from any source other than a judge, he may be disqualified.
  11. The contestant with the highest points at the end of the competition will be declared champion. Judges should be informed of any results challenges before the champion is declared, with the head judge to make the final call.
  12. GIGABYTE judges may ask contestants to run benchmarks again to verify scores.
  13. Every contestant needs to save a screenshot of the result, otherwise the score isn’t valid.
  14. In case of a tie, the contestant with the highest Pifast will be the winner.
  15. Any attempt to cheat or bend the rules in any shape or form may result in disqualification and possible exclusion from future GIGABYTE events and contests.
  16. All prizes awarded during the live event are considered as preliminary prizes. All the results will be double checked after the event for any irregularities and winners will be notified if there are any changes to the outcome.
  17. Please keep this competition fair and honest.

**GIGABYTE reserves the right to modify/amend in any way the Rules and Regulations at any time without prior notice.

  • Prize***

1st: US$ 5,000 cash and sponsor products (Total US$ 2,500 prize value)

2nd: US$ 2,000 cash and sponsor products (Total US$ 1,600 prize value)

3rd : US$ 1,000 cash and sponsor products (Total US$ 1,300 prize value)

***As stipulated by tax-laws of Taiwan, if the prize exceeds NT$ 13,333 in value, the winner as a local resident of Taiwan shall pay 15% of the tax. If the winner is a non local resident of Taiwan, they shall pay 20% of the tax.
